Terms of Service
Last updated: October 3, 2026
These terms are the rules for using shorturl.ge (the “Site”), run by ShortURL (“we”, “us”). By using the Site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
The service
The Site lets anyone create short links that redirect to a longer web address, check how many times a short link was opened, see where a short link leads, and report harmful links. It is free and does not require an account.
Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the links you create and for how you share them.
- Only shorten addresses you have the right to share.
- Short links, their destinations and their click counts are public. Do not shorten addresses that contain private or sensitive information.
What is not allowed
You may not create short links that lead to, or use the Site for:
- Phishing, scams or fraud.
- Malware, viruses or unwanted software.
- Spam, including links sent in unsolicited bulk messages.
- Hiding where a link really goes, for example by chaining other URL shorteners.
- Content that infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights, or unauthorized streaming, downloads or file sharing.
- Pornographic, violent, abusive or hateful content.
- Illegal drugs, weapons or other illegal goods and services.
- Malicious scripts, pop-ups or deceptive redirects.
- Anything else that is illegal or harms others.
You may also not create links in bulk with automated tools, try to get around our limits, or interfere with the Site’s operation.
How links are checked and removed
- Some destinations are blocked automatically, including other URL shorteners, private network addresses and links back to the Site itself.
- We may check destinations against third-party services that detect malware and phishing, and we review links that people report.
- We may disable or delete any link at any time and without notice. This includes links that break these terms, links that are reported, and links that have not been used for a while.
- A disabled link shows a “link disabled” page instead of redirecting. A deleted link stops working, and its short code may later be given to a new link.
To ask for a change to a link you created, contact us with the short link and its destination.
Third-party sites and ads
Short links lead to websites we do not control, and we are not responsible for their content. You can use Unshorten to see where a link leads before opening it. The Site also shows ads from third parties such as Google, and we are not responsible for the content of those ads or the sites they link to.
Availability
The Site is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that any link will keep working. We may change or stop the service at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Site, including lost data, lost profits or service interruptions. You agree to hold us harmless from claims arising from the links you create or share. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
